When the 2500 shots have been consumed it deteriorates to a crystal seed, which can be recharged for a descending fee by Ilfeen. Do not make the mistake of going to the male elf Islwyn - he will only sell you a new one.
The range attack bonus stat on the crystal bow degenerates 4 points at every 250 shots (making it no longer "full" - it will have a number in parentheses after it).

At (6) its ranged attack bonus is 84, the same as Karil's crossbow. At (2) it is 68, slightly below a magic shortbow, and at (1) it is 64, so it is still better than a yew composite.
When you try to low/high alch it, you get stopped and it says: 'You can't do this to elfen crystal!'
